Elevating Massachusetts Service Plazas
From Boston to the Berkshires and Beyond
Applegreen is proud to partner with MassDOT to transform and operate 18 Service Plazas across the Commonwealth—creating clean, safe, and welcoming spaces for travelers to rest, refuel, and reconnect. Driven by a hospitality mindset, we’ve created future-focused designs in support of customer-focused operations. Working together with our local partners, we are reimagining the travel experience to the benefit of residents, business and visitors alike.

Investing in the Journey: $750M Plaza Revitalization
We are delighted to invest more than $750million in the 18 Service Plazas across the Commonwealth. In partnership with Suffolk Construction and Upland Architects, Applegreen will completely redevelop 9 Service Plazas and refurbish an additional 9 Service Plazas into welcoming, modern, sustainable destinations. Applegreen and our team have curated three different revitalization concepts reflecting the various local cultures and architectures. Rather than a generic stop along a busy highway, each Plaza will stand as a symbol of the region it serves, seamlessly integrating into its surroundings while creating a distinct sense of arrival, offering travelers and experience that is uniquely Massachusetts.

Upstanding Service
Providing outstanding customer service that meets traveler needs and creates moments of both calm and connection along a journey is our mission. Applegreen will operate all aspects of the Service Plazas, including restaurants, cafes, shops, fuel and EV charging.
As we plan to launch operations, Applegreen will identify partners, strong customer service teams, and other resources to offer world-class service experience. We will provide access to convenience goods, amenities and national food and beverage brands to the travelling public both during interim and post-revitalization operations.
We have a successful track record of managing similar Plaza transformations, and are confident we will lead a timely, effective process with limited downtime to customer services.
